Yurii Maravin – Higgs boson as a tool for discoveries at the LHC and beyond

The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012, the long-sought missingpiece that completes the standard model of fundamental constituentsand their interactions, was a triumph for particle physicists.Although the standard model remains our most complete theory, it failsto describe several observed phenomena and is widely considered alow-energy approximation of a more comprehensive model of fundamentalparticles and their interactions. The current main thrust of the LHCphysics program is to find the path toward this more comprehensivemodel of the universe, and the physics of the Higgs boson plays aleading role in this endeavor.
