Nathalie Moncoffre, Research Director at the CNRS and based at the Institut de physique des deux infinis CNRS (IP2I Lyon), studies the behavior and evolution of materials used in the nuclear fuel cycle under extreme temperature and irradiation conditions. She leads the research infrastructure “Study of Materials under Irradiation and Analysis” (EMIR&A), dedicated to investigating and characterizing irradiated materials using particle accelerators. She is also actively involved in the activities of Lyon 1 Open University, which promotes the dissemination and sharing of scientific knowledge with the general public. Her research thus contributes to a better understanding of material aging and the safety challenges associated with nuclear facilities.

The French Academy of Sciences is delighted by this distinction and extends its warmest congratulations to the award recipient! ✨
